  • and mysql 5 or higher

Many issues that you may run into such as: white screen, demo content fails when importing and other similar issues are all related to low PHP configuration limits. The solution is to increase the PHP limits. You can do this on your own, or contact your web host and ask them to increase those limits to a minimum as follows:

  • max_execution_time 180
  • memory_limit 128M
  • post_max_size 32M
  • upload_max_filesize 32M

We have tested it with Mac, Windows and Linux. Below is a list of items you should ensure your host can comply with:

  • Check to ensure that your web host has the minimum requirements to run WordPress.
  • Always make sure they are running the latest version of WordPress.
  • You can download the latest release of WordPress from official WordPress website.
  • Always create secure passwords for FTP and Database.

Check official WordPress requirements page here

XML file which you use to import demo content is located in assets/{theme}/xml folder.

This is located in the main package you dowloaded from ThemeForest (when you click on “All files & documentation”)

If you are not able to increase server limits you can try to switch temporarily to a default WP theme which is much simpler and switch back afterwords.

Repeat the import process several times until you get the pages imported.

If you are using cheap Godaddy hosting, once you get to the Internal Server Error page that means that your script has timed out. Go back and import the xml file again, several times until you get All done message.

Don’t worry, media and the content already imported won’t be duplicated.

Only menu items may be duplicated but you can sort that out manually quickly.

Google is making updates to their GMaps API – Read the following article

In order to make your maps working again you need to do the following:

  2. Step by step instructions on how to get API key here
  3. Make sure you are using the latest theme version
  4. If you use Ultimate Addons map then go to Admin/Ultimate/Gmaps and paste your generated key there
  5. Otherwise go to Admin/Theme Options/Misc/Google Maps API key and insert your generated API key

For theme update instructions go here

Translate the theme

The translation file is located in languages folder (/wp-content/themes/{theme}/languages). Edit the .pot file using POEdit, use the translation field to make replacements.

From the file menu, save file with your language name e.g de_DE.po. It will generate both a .po and .mo file for your translation.

Go to Admin/Settings/General and select Site Language. In our example select Deutsch.

Translate the theme plugin:

Translating the plugin is similar to translating the theme except that you need to name the translation file in this manner:
{plugin-name}-de_DE.po and .mo respectively and put them in the languages folder inside the plugin on your server.
Please make sure to always keep a copy of translation files as they may be lost in the update process.

In order to be able to import Custom Icons in Ultimate Addons you need to have ZipArchive enabled on your server. Please check this answer for a way to check if ZipArchive is enabled on your server here

All premium plugins are included and updated with the theme.

In order to activate premium plugins you need to purchase a separate licence for each plugin. We do not recommend that.

We check how premium plugins work together and with the theme before we include them in the theme update.

Browser cache – is the place where pages info is stored in order for them to be loaded faster on your next visit. Sometimes cache memory can prevent you from seeing that changes you have made, so you need to clear the browser cache memory in order to see the change. Sometimes simply reloading the page will be enough.

Server-side caching – is another thing that can prevent you from seeing changes that you made to the site. It is caused by your server settings and in that case contact your hosting provider and request them to turn it off.

Cache Plugins – also can cause this problem, so if you encounter this problem and previous solutions doesn’t work, it is most likely that your plugin is not clearing cache after you’ve made the change, and then you need to go to plugins settings and set them properly.

If you are using Petal, Care, School Time or Senior theme, you have available this option. Layout blocks are separate Header and Footer sections of your site where you can insert any Visual Composer element.

With the demo you get two layout blocks Top Bar and Footer that we have already created for you and after installation you can set that Layout Blocks under Theme Options / General Settings.

Editing Layout Blocks as well as adding new ones can be done thru your admin panel where you can change its content and also create different layout.

For Top Bar Layout Block we have also created different layout for desktop and tablet view and you can tell the difference if you look rows in VC editing mode – rows for tablet view have faded look, so you have to edit the content for all four rows. To prevent element from appearing on certain view, edit the column where element is located and under column settings, select responsive options tab. There you have option to hide it on some devices.

This powerful feature you can use for all pages, but you can also add more Header and Footer blocks and assign them just for certain pages which will override default blocks that you have set under General Settings. Open the page where you want to have different header or footer and at the bottom of the page, you can select that new Top Bar or Footer Layout block.

This way you get completely customizable Top Bar and Footer, you choose elements from Visual Composer you want to use, you choose their layout, how anw when they will appear on tablet and desktop and at the end different Top Bar and Footer for different pages.

If you want some of your pages to be displayed on the side, you have available template Sidebar – Left with Child Pages.

If you go to All Pages section you will notice that some pages by default have dash on the left side. This means that pages are Child Pages of its Main Page / Parent Page.

You just need to set that Sidebar – Left with Child Pages to Main / Parent page and all of its Child Pages will be displayed on the left side.

Another option that you have is to set order of Child Pages on that left side.

If you select Quick Edit option of Child Page, you will see on the right Order option. If it set to 0, that page will be displayed at the top of left sidebar, if you set it to be 1, Child Page will be on second place from the top etc.

To set your Mega Menu go to Appearance / Menus and select Mega Menu to be your primary navigation. After that expand every menu item and under Mega Menu tab select Mega Menu block that will be displayed on hover. You can chose existing block or create and set a new block. On this link you have an example on how to create and set completely new Mega Menu Contact block.

Layer Slider

In order to be able to import Layer Slider demos you need to have ZipArchive enabled on your server. To check if ZipArchive is enabled go to Admin/Layer Slider WP and click on “Import/Export” tab. In the right corner you should see a message “ZipArchive is available to import/export images” if ZipArchive is enabled.

Layer Slider VC widget tries to display the slider with specific ID. If your slider ID  is different than the slider will not show. This usually happen if you already have some sliders installed before you import our demo slider or first import default Layer Slider demo by mistake.

You need to edit Layer Slider widget on the page in question, re-select the slider and save.
